Fire and Ice

The poem ‘Fire and Ice‘ by Robert Frost expresses the idea that the world would end in either of two ways, by ice or by fire. According to the poet,’fire’ symbolises human desire, greed, cruelty, etc. The more you try to satisfy them, the more they grow. There is no end to them and they spread like wildfire and engulf your whole life.

On the other hand, ‘Ice’ symbolises indifference in human relationships, hatred, coldness and rigidity. The poet has the view that both, fire and ice, are equally competent in bringing the world to a complete end.
